What Can Veneers Do For St. Louis Smiles?

porcelain veneers cost St. Louis

Hello, and welcome to our Koch Park Dental – Martin L. Buchheit, DDS cosmetic dentistry blog. Today we are taking the time to answer a common question that many dental patients have. The question is, “What exactly are veneers and how are they used in cosmetic dentistry?”

Veneers are thin shells made from durable, translucent porcelain or composite resin. They are custom-made for each patient and are used to improve the appearance of teeth. Unlike a dental crown which covers the entire visible portion of a tooth, a veneer covers just the front part of the tooth. They are generally used to correct teeth that have been chipped, stained, decayed, or that are slightly crooked.

If you visit your dentist for veneers, he or she will first make a model of your teeth. Next, a dental technician will use the model to create the veneers, so you can be sure of a custom fit.

Since a small portion of the enamel on the tooth has to be removed so the veneer can be placed, this process is usually irreversible.

I hope that this blog entry has helped you to understand a little more about veneers and how they can help you to improve your smile. Koch Park Dental – Martin L. Buchheit, DDS offers all the services you need to create your very best smile. Ask us about gum contouring, smile makeovers, teeth whitening, dental implants, and invisible braces.

If you are looking for a dentist with expertise creating beautiful porcelain veneers, give Koch Park Dental – Martin L. Buchheit, DDS a call. My name is Dr. Martin Buchheit and I have been practicing dentistry since 1987.

Please call 314-837-7744 and a member of our friendly staff can schedule an appointment for you and answer any questions you have about cosmetic dentistry.

Let’s Work Together To Keep Your Smile Healthy And Beautiful

low cost tooth bleaching St. Louis

Here at Koch Park Dental – Martin L. Buchheit, DDS we approach all your dental needs from two separate angles – what we can do in our Florissant office and what you can do at home. For example, tooth whitening and correcting discoloration can be treated in our office or at home. Here in the office there are safe and effective methods for lightening yellowed or stained tooth enamel. At-home whitening methods are also safe and effective and sometimes more affordable.

Additionally, we advise you regarding food and drink choices that can affect your whitened smile. Be aware of staining culprits such as coffee, tea, tobacco and harsh sodas. We understand that avoiding these items altogether is not an easy lifestyle change. Nor do we expect it.

Awareness and precaution can make a big difference. Rinsing your mouth out with water after drinking a dark or sugary drink can cut down on the contact your teeth have with such substances. Prolonged exposure to sugar can lead to buildup of plaque and tartar and prolonged exposure to staining substances can lead to stronger staining and discoloration.

If you are interested in making improvements to your smile and creating a more confident appearance for your professional career or personal relationships, please pick up the phone and contact the amazing staff at Koch Park Dental – Martin L. Buchheit, DDS today 314-837-7744. Dr. Martin Buchheit, DDS, takes pride in providing friendly care and expertise when treating patients.

Come discover the personal attention with Invisalign, the patient and steady hand with root canals, the wise and thorough instruction relating to dental implants. Once you’ve scheduled a consultation, make the easy drive to 2149 Charbonier Rd. Florissant, Missouri 63033 and settle in for guidance that will make your daily oral care and lifestyle choices productive and meaningful.

When it comes to hygiene and healthy teeth we are a practice that wants to see you as little as possible. (It’s not that we don’t love you – we just want you to have a healthy smile!) If we only see you twice a year for regular checkups then we’ve done our job. Check out our website at https://www.kochparkdental.net/ or come in for an evaluation and recommendations.

Dr. Buchheit provides the full spectrum of dental services from cosmetic dentistry to general dentistry to dental implants. And we welcome patients from all over the area, from St. Louis to St. Charles and from Chesterfield to Maryland Heights.

What Can Fluoride Do For You, Chesterfield?

Florissant lowest price teeth bleaching

Hello, and welcome to the Florissant Dental Blog. Today we will be answering questions about fluoride: “What is it, exactly, and why is it so beneficial to your dental health?”

Fluoride is a mineral, plain and simple. Fluoride occurs naturally in different foods as well as in water. Fluoride is also added to many of the oral care products sold in Maryland Heights, St. Louis, and St. Charles stores. This makes it possible for you to apply fluoride to your teeth when you brush your teeth or use mouth rinses.

And why would you want to put fluoride on your teeth? Because it will help to prevent tooth decay, of course! Fluoride does this by giving the teeth increased resistance against the acid attacks brought on by plaque bacteria as well as sugar in the mouth.

Fluoride is especially important for kids. Between the ages of 6 months and 16 years old, both the primary and the permanent teeth come in, therefore fluoride exposure is extremely beneficial. But, stay tuned, adults: the benefits of topical fluoride are available to you as well!

This miracle mineral is also applied to teeth during routine cleanings at Chesterfield and Florissant dental offices.

I’m Dr. Martin Buchheit and I have a full-service dental practice in Florissant. Helping my dental patients maintain optimal dental health is important to me, and so is helping them achieve the smile they want through cosmetic dentistry procedures such as veneers, teeth whitening and complete smile makeovers.

My practice, Koch Park Dental – Martin L. Buchheit, DDS has been serving the Chesterfield, Maryland Heights, and St. Charles area since 1987, and we would like you to be our next satisfied patient. Please contact us at 314-837-7744 so we can make an appointment for you.

At Koch Park Dental We Treat You Like Family

At Koch Park Dental - Martin L. Buchheit, DDS You

At Koch Park Dental – Martin L. Buchheit, DDS, our Florissant patients are treated like family. I am Dr. Martin Buchheit and my relationship with my patients is paramount.

You know what puts a smile on my face? When I use advanced cosmetic dentistry to create a dazzling smile makeover for one of my patients.

My staff and I at Koch Park Dental – Martin L. Buchheit, DDS can guarantee you quality preventative, restorative, general, and cosmetic dental care.

In today’s Koch Park Dental blog I would like to discuss laser dentistry. It may sound scary, but laser dentistry provides an excellent alternative to drills. Many procedures performed with lasers don’t require Florissant patients to be medicated, allowing for quicker healing times.

Many Florissant patients become very anxious waiting for a shot of painkiller before a dental procedure. Laser dentistry allows for a more relaxed, less stressful dental visit. My patients also appreciate not going home with a numb mouth and drool dripping down their chin.

Florissant residents in need of oral surgery will experience less bleeding thanks to laser dentistry. Some of the procedures that are performed with lasers are infected root canal treatment, gum and bone reshaping, uncovering erupted wisdom teeth, and teeth whitening.

At Koch Park Dental – Martin L. Buchheit, DDS, our most popular offering is general dentistry. We also offer cosmetic dentistry, dental implants, porcelain veneers, and Invisalign.

Florissant patients who want to experience a comfortable, relaxing dental visit and receive compassionate and professional dental care, contact Koch Park Dental – Martin L. Buchheit, DDS today.

Koch Park Dental Guide to Plaque, Calculus, and Cavities

St. Louis Guide To Plaque, Calculus, And Cavities

Hi. I’m Dr. Martin Buchheit. Welcome to my Florissant dental blog! I find that many of my patients in the Hazelwood, Maryland Heights, and St. Charles areas get a couple of dental terms mixed up. Today, I would like to clarify the differences between plaque, calculus, and cavities.

Plaque is a film that covers teeth – a sticky layer of bacteria. You can remove plaque through daily brushing and flossing. However, if it isn’t removed it can build up and harden into calculus.

Calculus, also known as tartar, is hardened plaque that also accumulates minerals from food and saliva. Regular check-ups and cleanings with your Florissant dentist are necessary to remove tartar as well as hard-to-reach plaque.

Plaque and calculus are not cavities, but they can lead to cavities. A cavity is basically a hole in the tooth caused by decay. Because plaque and calculus contain bacteria, the bacteria release acids which accelerate tooth decay and eventually lead to more cavities.

A good rule of thumb for St. Louis dental patients is this: Avoid plaque to avoid calculus and tartar to avoid tooth decay to avoid cavities. Got it?

I hope you’ve found this helpful, and if you’re in the Hazelwood, Maryland Heights, or St. Charles area and are in need of quality dental care, call our office at 314-837-7744 to schedule an appointment today.

Our friendly staff would love to answer any questions you have about our services, including cosmetic dentistry, teeth whitening, and veneers.

St. Louis Treatment For Sensitive Teeth

St. Charles cosmetic dental and tooth implants

For those of you in the St. Louis area who feel pain when you sip your morning coffee or who cringe each time you brush or floss, Koch Park Dental – Martin L. Buchheit, DDS is here for you. Dr. Martin Buchheit has been treating this common problem since 1987.

The first line of defense against tooth sensitivity is proper oral hygiene. Incorrect brushing and over-brushing can result in receding gums, which leads to the exposure of microscopic tubules in the dentin. When these tubules are exposed, acidic, hot, cold, and sticky foods can then reach the nerve cells in the teeth causing discomfort (who are we kidding – it’s pain).

Here in our Florissant dentistry practice, our knowledgeable dental staff can determine if your brushing style is contributing to your tooth sensitivity and get you on your way to proper oral care habits.

Martin Buchheit usually recommends an over-the-counter desensitizing toothpaste that will alleviate tooth pain after several applications. Most St. Louis WalMart and Hazelwood Sav-On stores carry it. However, some Florissant patients may need in-office procedures such as fluoride gel treatments available at Koch Park Dental – Martin L. Buchheit, DDS.

Don’t worry if you have sensitive teeth in Florissant and want to have your teeth whitened. Here at Koch Park Dental – Martin L. Buchheit, DDS, Dr. Buchheit can determine which professional tooth whitening or at-home whitening procedures will work for you.

Call our Florissant cosmetic dental office today to get relief for your sensitive teeth.

Have Your Dessert, Florissant!

Have Your Dessert Florissant

Your St. Louis dentist knows that it’s too much to ask that you never indulge in sugary treats, but he or she will tell you that eating sweets at certain times is better for your teeth than others. For instance, when you eat a full meal, your saliva production increases. This helps to rinse food particles from your mouth as well as neutralize the acids that cause plaque.

This is great news for dessert lovers in the Hazelwood, Maryland Heights, and St. Charles areas because it means that sweets consumed after meals have a lower risk to your teeth because your mouth is already in optimum cleansing mode.

St. Louis dentists agree that sweets after meals are preferable to sweets eaten between meals as snacks.

Furthermore, remember that the type of treat is as vital as when you eat it. Florissant dentists are constantly reminding their dental patients that sticky candies stay on your teeth for a long time, even when your saliva is flowing. And hard candies that you suck for an extended time give bacteria a perfect environment to create harmful, enamel-weakening acids.

I am Dr. Martin Buchheit of Koch Park Dental – Martin L. Buchheit, DDS. We are located at 2149 Charbonier Rd. in Florissant.

Our friendly staff is here to help you have the healthiest and most beautiful smile possible. We provide general, restorative, and cosmetic dentistry such as tooth whitening, dental crowns, porcelain veneers, short term braces, oral conscious sedation, inlays and onlays, and dental implants.

We are currently accepting new patients, so call today to book an appointment!

Limiting Sugar Intake For Healthier Florissant Kids

Family Dentist Florissant

Every health-conscious Florissant parent knows that sugar is the number one cause of cavities for Missouri kids – and plenty of us adults also snack on too many sweet snacks and beverages.

Because of cavity risks, low nutritional value, and high calorie content, many Florissant parents want to limit the sugar in their children’s diets. Obviously, there is a lot of sugar in bubble gum, lollipops, and gummy candy. But there is also sugar lurking in so-called ‘healthy’ snacks.

Here are some popular St. Louis kid’s snacks with significant amounts of sugar:

Yogurt covered raisins
Fruit snacks including the roll-up and syrup-filled varieties
Rice cakes
Many brands of yogurt including the hand-held type
Juice drinks
Flavored milk
Barbecue sauce
Fruit smoothies
Cereal bars

Controlling sugar intake in your Florissant child’s diet is essential for lifelong oral health. When choosing lunchbox or after-school snacks at your Hazelwood market, St. Louis convenience store or Maryland Heights recreation center snack bar, read the labels. Sugar content varies among brands.

Sugar is only one diet component that impacts St. Louis kids’ oral health. If your son’s or daughter’s diet is lacking key vitamins and minerals, the tissues in their mouth may have trouble fighting infection. These infections can lead to gum disease.

At Koch Park Dental – Martin L. Buchheit, DDS in Florissant, we provide high-quality childrens’, general, and cosmetic dentistry to patients in the Missouri communities of Florissant, Hazelwood, and Maryland Heights. The team at Koch Park Dental – Martin L. Buchheit, DDS pampers our youngest patients. If you have a toddler who has not visited a dentist, call us today to schedule a first-time dental check-up. Our number is 314-837-7744.
